nagasaki…

nagasaki is a city the i really liked. it’s built on along hillsides and has a somewhat cozy feel. i was amazed to learn of it’s significance before the second atomic bomb fell. the above is the peace statue located in the peace memorial park.

the nagasaki hypo-center memorial monument. the peace memorial museum, not pictured, in nagasaki was in many ways more surreal than that in hiroshima. it held nothing back in showing the carnage that both the explosion and after math caused.

the above is spectacles bridge. nagasaki has awesome rivers and many similar interesting bridges.

hakata/fukuoka…

when i came to japan three years ago i had a goal of reaching all five main islands of japan. i finally accomplished this by visiting hakata fukuoka. this is a big city, great for shopping and such things, i’m sure, but for me there wasn’t all that much to see. these are some of the interesting buildings around town.

hiroshima…

one of the things i loved about hiroshima was the rivers that cut across the city. i truly enjoyed walking along them and seeing the city views.

walking through hiroshima and visiting sites from the war was quite dramatic. the above is the a-bomb dome.

the above is the hiroshima peace memorial museum. after walking through and seeing all the exhibits, one must wonder how we haven’t evolved beyond taking fellow human lives and war in general.
